In the world of charity runs and fundraising events, there are few stories as inspiring as that of Mikey Bishop. This year, Mikey is taking on the iconic Great North Run, not just as a personal challenge but also to honour the memory of his uncle, a remarkable police officer, Andrew Rawlinson. Moreover, Mikey’s participation in this event is all in the name of a noble cause – raising funds for the Police Peer Support Charity, Call4Backup.

Mikey is running in memory of his uncle, Andrew Rawlinson. Andrew was not just a police officer; he was a dedicated to being able to talk to anyone whilst doing his job. “He was known for his ability to communicate with people from all walks of life and a willingness to help people – this was particularly apparent in the time he spent helping and training new officers find their feet” Mikey said.

Mikey’s Great North Run Journey: A Tribute to Andrew

Mikey Bishop’s decision to run the Great North Run is not just about taking on a physical challenge; it’s about carrying forward the legacy of his uncle. Andrew’s dedication to his duty inspired Mikey, and he saw this event as an opportunity to honour his memory in a meaningful way.

The Great North Run, one of the most famous half marathons in the world, is a challenging race that spans 13.1 miles through the scenic streets of Newcastle. It’s a test of endurance, determination, and mental strength. Mikey, like his uncle before him, is showing extraordinary resilience in the face of this formidable challenge.

Running for a Cause: Supporting Call4Backup

Mikey Bishop’s journey is not just about remembering a hero; it’s also about supporting a crucial cause – the Police Peer Support Charity, Call4Backup. This charity is dedicated to providing essential mental health support to police officers, staff and volunteers who often face unimaginable stress and trauma in their line of duty.

Police officers confront situations that most of us can’t comprehend. The toll this takes on their mental well-being is significant. Call4Backup steps in to provide a lifeline, offering a listening ear, counselling, and resources to help them cope with the emotional challenges they face.

Andy is missed by all of us who knew him and I know that Call4BackUp were an important support mechanism for him. Anything you can share to help this brilliant charity is much appreciated.” said Mikey. By running the Great North Run and raising funds for Call4Backup, Mikey is helping ensure that police officers across the UK have access to the support they need.
