London Marathon Countdown

/ March 23, 2017

Today marks one month until thousands of runners cross the line at the start of the London Marathon and for Call4Backup this is a massive milestone as this is the first national event we have been given a place to attend and will be the benchmark for all the other fundraising events for the year.

Call4Backup's runner, Scott Davies, has been keeping us posted on the progress of his training and with 1 month remaining we thought no better time than to ask Scott to share how he is getting on. "Training wise, I'm managing to get the miles in, but i'm finding it tougher this time round. I think it's because I am 3 years older" said Scott. "I have had a couple of set backs with having cold and chesty coughs, so it's a case of juggling the training days about and fitting it in where I can. It is getting tough now with runs of over 3 hours!"

Scott shared with us that following the attacks in London yesterday had a renewed drive to complete his challenge and raise as much money as he could to support Call4Backup and in turn all his colleagues who had to deal with the terrible terrorist attacks in London. He took to social media to share his thoughts.

With all the Police Family feeling the loss of a colleague and the realisation that there is always the risk of not making it home at the end of the day this is now a driving force for Scott as he and many other runners will pass the site where PC Keith Palmer lost his life a month afterwards while they will be in the final stages of the London Marathon.
