Police Officer to run London Marathon for Call4Backup

/ July 7, 2016

Scott Davies, who is a serving officer in West Midlands Police, has today been announced as the winner of the charity's sole spot in the 2017 London Marathon which will take place in April next year.

'We are always looking to extend the knowledge that our charity is here, is active and able to provide support to all areas of the UK.' said Trustee and Founder, Rob Webber 'With that in mind the trustees have decided that Scott's location coupled with his running background and fundraising potential have earned him the right to represent our charity.'

Davies has run marathon's before and is a keen runner and the hope for the charity is for this event to be a great launching platform to make the aims and objectives of the charity more widely known.

'I am ecstatic about winning a place to run the Virgin London Marathon for Call4BackUp.' said Davies 'I have seen many of my friends and colleagues injured in the line of duty, both physically and mentally, so anything I can do to help makes me extremely proud.

I am a keen runner already and have done the London Marathon once before. I followed a training plan last time round that I obtained from a running book, however I think I pushed myself too hard to do it in a good time. This time I just want to enjoy the occasion!

I will be pestering friends, family and colleagues from now until next April. My wife is a keen baker, so I will utilise her skills and sells some cakes throughout the year to boost the kitty!'

The charity received a total of 7 applicants for the one charity position leaving some applicants disappointed. It is not all doom and gloom as the charity want to make it clear that they will support any runners who are successful in the Ballot Entry who wish to run to raise funds for the cause.
