Today is International Women's Day 2022 and what better way to celebrate the work of the women in our organisation then to talk about our supercop, supermum & super-volunteer, Stevie Tiernan.
Stevie is currently one of the charity's trustees but also is a Support Agent alongside her day job working as a Police Staff Investigator attached to CID in Dorset Police. Stevie juggles these two demands around other volunteer roles including being a Special Inspector in Poole having joined the Special Constabulary in 2013 and a Police Cadet leader as well as being a mother.
"With working full time, having a young family and my volunteering work, it doesn’t leave me a huge amount of time for much else – but I wouldn’t have it any other way."
Stevie started off her Police career in Lincolnshire Police working in the Admin department, then she transferred to North Yorkshire Police for a couple of years as a radio Dispatcher – mostly covering Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale. She then moved back home to Dorset and joined Dorset Police in their Control Room as a Dispatcher before moving to live-time intelligence as a researcher after a few years.
In 2018 Stevie and her husband welcomed their son into the world but that didn't stop Stevie as she came back to work full time in new role in investigations as a Police Staff Investigator and is currently attached to CID and is studying to take the National Investigators Exam in June.

Stevie joined Call4Backup as it launched in 2015, and has been one of our Support Agents ever since providing crisis intervention to serving members of UK police forces across the UK. In February 2019, Stevie also joined the board of trustees and is now striving to push the charity forward and has taken a strong role in our meetings all over the country as part of the Police Charities UK consortium.
It doesnt end there! as Stevie is currently training to run in the London Landmarks Half Marathon, which is in less than a month now! She is raising money for Call4Backup as part of this event and we would ask that you show her the support that she has shown us, the public and her family over the years and drop her a donation, no matter how small.
